also known as colonics, high colonics, colon cleansing, and high enemas – is the gentle cleansing of the colon (large intestine) using purified water. We use all disposable, one-time use tubing for our client’s safety. A well-lubricated speculum is self-inserted by the client a few inches into the rectum. The colon hydrotherapist gently introduces purified water into the colon using slow pressure. The client allows the water to fill their colon and may, at first, feel like they have to have a bowel movement. This is normal due to the pressure filling the colon. The pressure continues to increase slowly until the client feels like they are full and at that point, the colon hydrotherapist releases the water pressure. The client releases both water and waste material through the disposable tubing, through the colon therapy instrument, and out into the sewer. This process is repeated a few times during the session. The number of times that the client fills and releases may vary from person to person and session to session. We use various massage techniques to relax the client and enhance their colonic experience.
This is a style of colon hydrotherapy that I created and named Iyasu, which means “to heal” in Japanese. It takes traditional colon hydrotherapy a few steps further. Many colon therapists offer colonics with a focus on healing from a predominately physical point of view – utilizing nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle changes to promote healing. Years ago, I began to realize when clients shared personal, emotional experiences with me during their sessions, their body opened up and released more physically. Consequently, I created a new way of offering colonics that incorporates the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects that make up the human experience of healing. During a metaphysical colonic, the body communicates with us in a very unique and meaningful way. Consider booking a metaphysical colonic to experience colon hydrotherapy on a whole new level! A bio electric lymphatic drainage session starts off similar to a regular massage. The client disrobes and lies down, face up, in between two sheets. The therapist starts by checking the condition of the lymphatic system, as it presents on the client’s body. As described in the Inspiration™ instruction manual, the therapist starts the session by gliding Inspiration’s high frequency, photon energy wand lightly over the surface of the skin. “This allows energy currents to move through the tissue and knock electrons off cells, falling into body fluids and creating a negative charge. These cells move into the flow of fluids, moving through the blood and lymph channels. By breaking debris into tiny particles and ushering out the waste through the lymphatic network, the pressure of the lymph is raised, creating an expansion by improving the pressure differential between the high pressure of the blood and the low pressure of the lymph. This creates a channel of transportation of nutrients to areas of the body, previously deprived. Life energy is now able to travel into the areas of the body that were closed off.” Next, the therapist utilizes manual lymphatic drainage massage techniques, which is very light in pressure, to give the lymph direction. This will encourage the lymph to move and release waste material back into the circulatory system. This session is very relaxing and some clients fall asleep! Many clients receive a colonic immediately after a bio electric lymphatic drainage to support the cleansing effects of the session. We encourage clients to drink plenty of water after a session for the same reasons.
Once a client has completed a full bio electric lymphatic drainage session, we can combine the lymphatic drainage session with a colonic. The reason we require clients to complete a full lymphatic drainage session first is to ensure that the client’s body is fully opened from a lymphatic point of view. Our client’s safety is our priority. We offer the add-on as a way for clients to get the benefits of the lymphatic drainage if financial or time constraints are a consideration.
Craniosacral Therapy [CST] was developed by osteopath Dr. William Sutherland over 100 years ago, after he had the insight to examine the way the cranial bones moved. After many years of research he concluded that the body is in constant motion and the craniosacral system “breathes” in rhythm with this motion. The subtle movements connected to the cranial bones are interrelated with the brain, the cerebrospinal fluid, the central nervous system, the membranes that surround the central nervous system, and the sacrum.
CST balances the cerebrospinal fluid, which is the lifeblood of the brain and nervous system. CST is a gentle hands-on session, which enhances the functioning of the craniosacral system. This system surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord and is comprised of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid.
CST is very relaxing. I assist the body in normalizing the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid by signaling the body to let go of tension that may be restricting this fluid. Releasing restrictions in the craniosacral system also improves the function of the central nervous system. For example, when the sacrum is jammed up into the body, it restricts the flow of the nervous system leaving us feeling very agitated and cranky. By working with the craniosacral rhythm, I can encourage the body to let go of the layers of tension that can build up over time. This can result in deep relaxation and a potential for even deeper healing. Read more about Craniosacral Therapy below.
Bio Electric Lymphatic Drainage is another service that is offered at Iyasu. We firmly believe that the lymphatic system is a vital part of obtaining and maintaining long-term health. We use Inspiration High Frequency Electric Lymphatic Therapy™ equipment and the following explanation is derived from the instruction manual. For more about the equipment, please visit their website at http://i-n-s-p-i-r-a-t-i-o-n.com. Over the years of working in the detox business of colon cleansing, we have seen people who not only have issues with constipation, gas, and bloating, but also lymphatic congestion. The owner, Stephanie, studied manual lymphatic drainage massage with Marci Javril and Sky David back in 1997. At that time, Stephanie was already a colon hydrotherapist (aka colonic therapy specialist), and decided to combine both the lymphatic massage and the colonic. She noticed that clients released more during their colonic session combining the lymphatic drainage massage than with just the colonic alone. In 2010, France Robert, her mentor since 1998, introduced Stephanie to the Inspiration High Frequency Electric Lymphatic Therapy™ – a high frequency neon/argon photon particle beam generator. France explained that although manual lymphatic drainage is good, if the lymph is congested, it could be very difficult and not as efficient to try to move the lymph with the manual massage alone. She suggested that Stephanie try a combination of the bio electric lymphatic drainage with the manual lymphatic drainage and voila! A new healing sensation was born!
Dr. Samuel West teaches in his book “The Golden Seven Plus One” that blood vessels of high pressure are exposed to toxins in the blood. These toxins are carried into the body by the impurities of what we eat, inhale, and ingest. This causes an increase in blood proteins and water to leak out of the capillaries into the interstitial spaces around the cells causing swelling (edema). The swelling prevents oxygen from getting into the cells, causing cellular stress, which can lead to various forms of disease. Inflammation results from this lack of oxygen and swelling. Water will follow excess blood proteins and the combination of these between the interstitial spaces around the cells will cause the sodium to increase, thus disrupting the electrical balance between the sodium and potassium in the cell. In order for the cell to be powered energetically, this delicate balance must be maintained. Disruption to this balance can potentially cause cellular stress and disease. The lymphatic system must be operating optimally to ensure that the sodium/potassium pump within each cell functions properly.

At Iyasu, when we have a client who comes in with a bloated body and/or swollen lymph glands, we suggest a bio electric lymphatic drainage session. The reasons they may be symptomatic are as follows:
Some of our clients experience bloating and inflammation during a cleanse or detox. The reasons can vary:
Craniosacral Therapy [CST] was developed by osteopath Dr. William Sutherland over 100 years ago, after he had the insight to examine the way the cranial bones moved. The subtle movements connected to the cranial bones are interrelated with the brain, the cerebrospinal fluid, the central nervous system, the membranes that surround the central nervous system, and the sacrum.
Dr. Sutherland discovered that the motion of cranial bones is closely connected to subtle movements that involve a network of interrelated tissues and fluids at the core of the body, including cerebrospinal fluid (the ‘sap in the tree’), the central nervous system, the membranes that surround the central nervous system, the sacrum, the brain, and spinal cord.
Furthering Dr. Sutherland’s studies, another osteopathic physician, John E. Upledger, performed many extensive scientific studies at Michigan State University from 1975 to 1983. While there he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
CST is a gentle, hands-on session (45 minutes) which enhances the functioning of the craniosacral system. This occurs when I tune into and assist in increasing the movement of the client’s cranial rhythm. The Craniosacral system “breathes” by gently expanding and collapsing the cranial bones. CST balances the cerebrospinal fluid, which is the lifeblood of the brain and nervous system.
Today’s world requires more and more of our attention as technology has changed the speed with which we receive information. As a result, our brains have much more to deal with in a shorter amount of time and we end up living “in our heads” – leaving us feeling tense and overwhelmed. This can impact how our bodies and our relationships function, because our nervous systems and brains do not get the break they were originally intended to have. The proper functioning of our Craniosacral system is so important to the health of our bodies because of its connection to and influence on the brain and spinal cord, which make up the central nervous system. Doesn’t it make sense that for us to attain great health, deal effectively with stress, and live our lives with peace and joy, we must ensure this system is flowing well?
Our bodies are wise and always working to compensate when the stress we take in tightens and creates restrictions in the craniosacral system and the rest of the body. These restrictions can show up as neck and shoulder pain, joints that come out of place, backs that “go out,” and tightness around the brain and spinal cord. Over time, these restrictions create pain, discomfort, and disease.
The great news is that CST can address and release these restrictions. CST therapy is very relaxing. With a gentle and light pressure touch, I assist the body in normalizing the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid by signaling the body to let go of tension that may be restricting this fluid. Releasing restrictions in the craniosacral system also improves the function of the central nervous system. The result is deep relaxation and increased potential for healing.
I truly believe Craniosacral Therapy as a part of a healthy lifestyle can help to increase the body’s natural ability to self-heal.
The client lies on their back to begin the session. I ask the client to bend their left knee and I roll their body toward me as I slide my palm underneath the sacrum, the triangle bone located at the end of the spine. I gently release the sacrum following their cranial rhythm. Next, I release their abdomen, diaphragm, and thoracic inlet by releasing tightness in the membrane. Finally I place my hands on (and under) the client’s head and I gently follow the cranial bones as they expand and collapse its “breath.” This type of session shifts the client into deep relaxation and releases the craniosacral restrictions.
By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including*:
